Tamara McCoy won an Individual Artist Award from the Rasmuson Foundation to perform both all over Alaska and in England in collaboration of other musicians from over seas. Therefore, we have teamed up as Duo Amici (Valerie Hartzell & Tamara McCoy). Her grant is based on her doctoral thesis which is the solo version of first programmatic piano concerto, 'Totentanz' by Franz Liszt, and on her ability to excel also as a vocalist. After a short lecture on the 'Totentanz', she would perform this work while displaying the sketches upon which this piece is based creating a multi-sensory experience for the audience.

Along with Liszt, Duo Amici will perform two large works for classical guitar and piano by Boccherini and Carulli. Also, we are performing guitar and voice repertoire by de Falla (arr. Hartzell/Llobet), The Beatles (arr. Hartzell) and The Monkees (arr. Hartzell). There will be a solo guitar set by composers Chris Dumigan), Albeniz (arr. Hartzell), and Lauro.
